Plenty of people end up on both. A client project on Netlify, personal work on Vercel. An agency inheriting whatever each client already had. A migration that is half-finished and has been for a year.

What running two actually costs#
Two notification setups. Different thresholds, different channels, different plan tiers gating them. Vercel's spend alerts are Pro-only; Netlify's usage emails are not. So your alerting is inconsistent by construction.
Two mental models. Vercel meters bandwidth, image optimization, function duration, edge requests and Fast Origin Transfer separately. Netlify converts everything to credits. "Am I okay?" is a different question with a different shape on each.
Two places to look during an incident. When something is wrong and you do not yet know where, checking two apps is the wrong first move and you will do it anyway.
Nothing tells you the total. The number you actually want — what am I spending on hosting this month — does not exist in either app.
Why nobody else does it#
Not laziness. Each provider is a genuine integration: different APIs, different auth, different shapes for the same concepts, different edge cases. Netlify's credit model and Vercel's per-meter model do not map onto each other cleanly, so merging them means deciding what a unified view even means.
For a solo developer shipping a client app, picking one provider is a sensible scope decision. Most of the category made it.

Then: one set of thresholds across both, one alert stream, and a kill switch that does the right provider-specific thing — pause on Vercel, password-lock on Netlify — without you having to remember which is which.
Then this is not a reason to pick MONII, and you should weigh it on the other features — usage alerts and the kill switch — or take a cheaper single-provider app. Cross-provider is genuinely the differentiator, and it is worth nothing to someone who does not need it.
