Netlify credits

Netlify's credit-based plans convert bandwidth, builds, functions and everything else into a single unit. Legible once you understand it — and easy to burn without noticing.

What it is. Netlify's credit-based plans price every metered resource in a single unit. Bandwidth, build minutes, function invocations, and the rest each convert into credits at their own rate, and your plan includes an allowance.

Why the model is actually good. One number to watch beats five. Vercel's per-meter pricing across bandwidth, image optimization, function duration, edge requests and Fast Origin Transfer is genuinely harder to hold in your head than a single credit balance.

Why it still catches people out.

  • The conversion rates are the part you have to learn. Until you know what a credit buys, the balance is not meaningful.
  • Running low is a billing exposure, not a hard stop — on credit-based plans you can be charged for additional credits.
  • Warnings are the standard fixed 50%, 75% and 100% emails. No custom threshold, and no spend cap or automatic pause.

Watching them.

  • The Netlify dashboard shows current balance and burn.
  • The account bandwidth endpoint covers the bandwidth component — script here.
  • Or use something that watches and can warn you earlier.

Are you even on this model? Netlify has both legacy and credit-based plans. Check your billing page before reasoning about either — the advice differs.
