This compares our product against the platform's own feature. Read it with that in mind — and note that Vercel wins two rows outright.

Where Vercel wins#
Speed. Vercel checks every few minutes. MONII polls roughly every fifteen. For a function in a retry loop, that difference is real money, and there is no way for a third party to close it — Vercel is reading its own meter.
SMS. At 100% of your spend amount, Vercel sends a text. It is the only channel either product offers that reliably wakes someone who is asleep. A push notification is close, but SMS cuts through Focus modes more consistently.
Those two are not close calls, and if what you need is fast and loud at 100%, Vercel's feature is better than ours.
Where MONII wins#
Hobby. Spend Management does not exist below Pro. If you are on Hobby, this is not a comparison — Vercel offers nothing.
Threshold granularity. 75% is often too late and 50% is too early to take seriously, which trains you to ignore both. Being able to set 62% matters more than it sounds.
Pause scope. Vercel's automatic pause takes down every project on the team, each needing manual unpausing. For an agency running client sites, that turns one incident into fifteen.
Netlify. Vercel's feature obviously does not cover it, and Netlify has nothing equivalent.
Acting from the alert. Vercel tells you. MONII lets you pause from the notification.
The honest recommendation#
On Pro with one project, happy with 75% email: use Spend Management, turn on the pause switch, and do not buy anything. You are covered.
On Hobby: Vercel offers nothing. Options are documented separately and include a free DIY script.
On Pro with several projects, or also on Netlify: run both. Vercel's for the fast backstop at 100%; MONII's for the earlier warning, the per-project pause, and the Netlify side.
Turn on Vercel's Spend Management, and enable the pause switch. It is free with Pro, it is faster than anything third-party can be, and the switch being off by default is the single most common reason it fails to save people. That is true whether or not you ever use MONII.
Questions people actually ask
Do I need MONII if I already use Vercel Spend Management?
Not necessarily. If you are on Pro, have one project, and are happy being told at 75% by email, Spend Management is enough and you should not pay for anything else.
Which reacts faster?
Vercel. It checks every few minutes and can pause automatically. MONII polls roughly every fifteen minutes and requires you to act, unless auto-kill is enabled.
Run both, honestly
Vercel's is faster and can pause automatically. MONII's is more granular, works on Hobby, and reaches your phone. They cover different failures.
